Music, then Fireworks!

Today turned out to be a perfect day for the fireworks. It was sunny and warm all day and a welcome change from the rain on a holiday weekend!

Nancy Buttura sent photos of the band that set up on their lawn on the 4th and some of

the boats that floated in front of their home. Here's what she wrote:

Even though it was cooler than expected friends and family of the band came plus we had a pretty good number of boats coming and going.  The band had so much fun they want to come back  and do it again next year.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  Here are two photos taken by Erin McMullen of the Red Barn Brewery.

A very appreciated and fun event, and we thank the Butturas for hosting the band.

The fireworks are scheduled to be set off tonight, but as I write this, I still haven't eard any. It probably looks darker outside my windows than it actually is, and they will begin momentarily.

I have had a very pleasant and busy weekend, with visits from family and friends - plus I was invited to join Bill, Monika and family at camp Saturday evening for dinner. Tangeni had a couple of friends staying with her and they were great fun. I think they were 9, almost 10, and 11 years old. Tangeni's birthday is today, but she will have a party next weekend. The rainy weather kept the girls inside Saturday and most of Sunday - at least, they weren't anxious to go swimming until today when the sun was warm.

Sunday a cousin visited in the afternoon, and after he left, JoAnn came and we had a very nice time watching a DVD of Tangeni's dance recital that neither of us saw back in May when it was broadcast live because they were not able to have a live audience due to the Covid pandemic. JoAnn was at school in Austin, Texas, and I wasn't able to get the link connection to work so I could see it on my computer. Fortunately, JoAnn's dad got a DVD for us and we enjoyed it together. It isn't often I get to see JoAnn for an extended period now she's away at school, so it was very nice to spend time with her. It's amazing how fast grandchildren grow up - it seems like only a year of so ago that she was making ginger cookies with me after arriving from Namibia. She was great fun then, and still is.

So there goes the start of the fireworks! I'll finish up here and get outside to see if I can see any through and above the trees! I hope many of you saw them either from a road on the surrounding hillsides, a comfortable porch or deck on the pond, or out in a boat with friends and family. I'll check in again tomorrow!
