Now I have recapped the story of the Route 15 accident that happened yesterday (see below), I remembered that there was another unfortunate accident on Route 2 on Monday and some of you might want to know how that turned out. Here is a link to the account in the Barre Times Argus.

It appears it will be quite a feat to get that tanker out of the river and probably the road will need to be closed at some point again in order for machinery to be able to do that. It's fortunate nobody was hurt and that there was no leak or fire.

Travel safely and be on the lookout always for other drivers who are going too fast or not paying close attention as you may have to dodge them!

I've also noticed that a few walkers on West Shore Road are not paying close attention to traffic - sometimes they fail to stay at the side of the road and run the risk of being bumped or causing an accident Walkers must remember that this is a public road and they should always walk facing traffic and stay on the side of the road, not walk in the middle. Most drivers on this road understand that there are a lot of walkers and bicyclists here during the summer months, but some may be inattentive or going a bit too fast and something serious could happen. Our back roads are narrow, with lots of curves, hills and dips that can hamper visibility. Bikers also need to let walkers know they are approaching, as well. Bicycles don't make much noise and can sometimes surprise walkers when overtaking them from behind. Please be respectful and give people fair warning you are approaching.
