Such a pretty day, after the showers all morning. Cooled the air off nicely, too. I haven't been outside much at all - the black flies are keeping me hostage. I was out earlier in the week and they really feasted on me. I hadn't realized it - I was mowing the walkway and since I was moving all the time I didn't think they were getting to me, but a little while after getting back in the house, I realized they had chewed me up badly. The welts and the itching aren't so bad, but they seem to poison me so the whole next day I was more or less under the weather. This has happened before and I should know not to venture out this time of the year without bug spray.

I have been busy on the computer - we are trying to figure out what photo and design we want on the cover of our book and hoping to get some ideas together to present to our graphic designer. That is great fun to "play" with - and in addition, I've been fielding questions from our editor, little things that are bound to crop up. She should be through with the edit in a matter of days, I think. This history of West Danville is really going to happen, folks! I'm sure some of you thought it would peter out, die on the vine, so to speak. But Patty, Dot and I are nothing if not persistent and we've kept at it - far longer than any of us would have believed, but actually the time has flown by and we've had a great time (along with some rough spots) working on it.

My friend, Mary Whitcomb sent me this cute illustration today. Isn't it a hoot?
On that note, I'm going to start some supper.
