This afternoon I received this very nice note and glorious photo (taken a few summers ago) from Ann McLean-Muse on Narrows Drive:

Jane,

Thank you for creating the blog as a way for all of us to keep in touch! I have been at our camp here at Joes Pond for the past few weeks and I plan to be here for April and possibly through May and the summer. My husband, Dan, and I own a camp at 60 Narrows Drive. I retired last June so I am able to be here with our daughter, her husband and their 4 month old son. They are building in Stowe so we are all safe and healthy here at Joes Pond! Dan is an ER doctor in MA so he wants us to stay up here since he is so busy and also possibly exposed to the COVID-19 virus. I just sent everyone in our family the attached picture our son, Sam, took from our dock a few summers ago as a reminder of keeping hope and faith that better days are to come. Please post if you would like!

I'm glad Ann and her family are able to be at Joe's Pond, relatively safe during this crisis. There is logic in her doctor husband wanting them here while he is so busy and possibly being exposed daily to COVID-19. We wish them all well and hope Dan can remain healthy. He is on the front lines working in an ER, and we applaud him and those like him who are facing such extreme situations. Thank you, Ann, for sharing your story with us. We wish you all the best.

We needed a few things at Marty's and called in our order this morning - picked it up a few minutes later, curbside. It went very smoothly once we realized where their pickup space is - way at the north end of the building next to the loading dock. Very pleasant experience, and so much safer for us and for them, doing it this way. We saw a number of people doing the same as we and also several going into the store as they normally have, no masks, etc. I think it's better to take precautions.

On our way home we stopped to get a photo of Hastings Store and the ribbons in
Ribbons honoring Jane Hastings Larrabee
memory of Jane. It is very striking and a wonderful way to show community respect and share the sorrow we all feel.

First Pond looking at narrows
Middle Pond looking at narrows
Middle Pond by Point Comfort Rd.
We took particular pains to notice the pond sections today. We were through at about noon and the first pond was showing quite a lot of open water, but there's still a section of snow between the narrows and under the bridge. The middle pond has open water at the narrows and some around the edges - it's beginning to look a little dark, so we know it's going to be gone soon. The third pond is quite solid looking, but there are spots along some shorelines that are showing open water and it, too, is beginning to show darker spots. It won't be long now!
