Clock Stopped!

The clock stopped this morning at 6:07. There is still ice, but it is very soft and the weight of the block took it through. The ice held the rope for a little time yesterday and overnight, and that's why the block sunk and just the flag was showing - but when the sun was coming up and the air began to warm this morning, the rope released and down it went, stopping the clock at 6:07 a.m.

Henretta said she is not quite finished putting tickets into the log, but she also said that April 15th is a very popular date this year. That could mean more than one winner, and that hasn't happened in a while. However, the split will still be good. We will let you know as soon as a winner (or winners) has been confirmed.

In the meantime, today is crisp but sunny. My thermometer is reading 37.3 degrees right now. It's warmer in the sunshine, but there a wind out of the SW that will keep it feeling cool. There are a few signs of new growth in the flower beds, but almost everything looks pretty pretty dead and brown. A few days of sunshine and maybe a warm shower will bring things back to life quickly.

The question was asked, "Will the winner be announced today."
The answer is No, it will be about two weeks before all the information has been collected and the winner (or winners) contacted. There always is a delay because the committee has to find out if there is more than one winner, contact them and verify all the information. Also, they like to be able to tell the winner(s) how much they will be getting, and it takes time to verify all the numbers. As soon as the information is released, we will have it here and also it will be posted on the website. Good luck to all of you who chose today! I wish you could all win!
