Actually, there isn't much going on just now. That said, something BIG will probably crop up out of the blue. The best news around here is that all the snow is gone from the last storm - I measured 4 inches on Wednesday morning and another 1.5 inches on Thursday morning. Nothing today, and it's finally a bit warmer. The sun is shining and it looks very peaceful outside even if the grass is still pretty brown and lifeless. I noticed that my daffodils are finally up about six inches!! That is good news. I was beginning to think they were taking this spring off from putting on a pretty display.
The most interesting stuff around her seems to go on after dark. Thursday morning I noticed there were some unusual tracks on the back lawn. Fred went out later to check and came back saying it was bear tracks and perhaps a deer had gone through, as well. Both sets of tracks were in the same area, which seems to be a game path across our lawn. It's where we usually see deer coming and going. Also, the fox follows the same general path, as do the turkeys. I think the bear was looking for apples - and found some under the crab apple tree, so I wouldn't be surprised to see another visit. We didn't have the game camera out that night - the batteries had died and because we hadn't caught anything on the camera worth reporting all winter, we didn't rush to get it back out. It's ready to go again now, however.
With plenty of sunshine and the temperature hitting 55 degrees (imagine!) this is an uplifting kind of day. Just what we all need. Since I don't have any flowers blooming outside yet, I have this photo on my desktop. It was taken on May 8, 2004. Who knows, perhaps they will be in bloom by then this year. There's something very joyful about daffodils.
