What a beautiful morning here! Bright sunshine, deep blue sky and all this fresh snow!! This was a pretty good storm - brought some much-needed snow and while the driving was dicey yesterday, most got to where they needed to be safely. We didn't lose our power, but some folks did. The ice built up on trees and then the snow and finally wind - it was as if the forces of nature were throwing everything in their game bag out there to do as much mayhem as possible, finding the weak spots and exposing them. The sun this morning is very welcome as we go about cleaning up after the storm.
I measured ten inches of new snow this morning. With what we've had over the past couple of days, I'm guessing most places got 14-15 inches total. I have some pictures of the snow around our house yesterday and today.

This first picture was yesterday during the rain and icing process.
Later in the day, it looked like this second one. Branches everywhere were
being weighted down with ice and snow. By evening, the snow was loaded onto the trees and the wind began to pick up. We couldn't tell if it was still snowing of if it was snow blowing off the roof of our house and the trees. Local television stations were off the air briefly in the evening, but we didn't lose our power.

This morning with the sun on the new snow, it is beautiful. Fred went out to snow blow and I went out to clear the deck and measure the snow. It was cold - only about 9 above, and has been slow to warm up, gaining only a degree or two in the past hour in spite of the nice sunshine.
I think we're in for a fairly cold weekend and that will last into Monday, then a warmup. Great weather for winter sports - as long as you dress for the weather.
