Cold night. Our low on deck was -9.2, and on the weather station that has a sensor by the garage doorway it was only -8.8. That is strange because the deck thermometer almost always registers somewhat warmer than the other one. I thought that was cold enough,
and when I opened my mail this morning I had this photo from Diane Rossi. I have to say, She lives in a really cold spot. She sent it to me at around 6 a.m., so hopefully it has warmed up considerably by now.
My weather station shows a wind-chill low of -33. I wasn't aware of much wind last night, but I'm sure glad I didn't have to be outside. I had one of our bedroom windows cracked ever-so-slightly last night, knowing it was below zero but wanting some fresh air, and this morning there was hairy frost growing on the windowsill - little upright feathers of frost about an inch high where the cold outside air met the warm, moist air from the house. I would have taken a picture, but I had already closed the window and turned up the thermostat when I noticed it and then it was gone.
The sun is shining, the temperature is rising nicely, and it looks as if it will be a pretty nice day.
