Such a pretty day! Still on the cool side, but the sunshine surely made a big difference in how most of us feel about the less than normal temperature. The snow on the trees is very pretty and I noticed the mountains off in the direction of Walden were white with frost on all the hard wood trees as well as the evergreens. Beautiful against the clear blue sky. I measured another inch of fresh, light snow this morning - the dry, feathery kind that doesn't bother much except when the wind blows it off the trees and a cloud of it envelops you. Then it can be a little bothersome. We didn't have a lot of wind here today, so it was all good.
Last time I wrote on the blog about the new Substance-Free Policy adopted by the Danville Select Board. I read the entire article and now know the plan is to put out signage and hope people abide by the rules. The students who proposed it said, "The biggest thing about this policy is that it will have to be enforced by community members."
They went on to say that if, after asking an offender to stop things get "out of hand," then Deb Stresing, president of the West Danville Community Club (WDCC) should be called. The WDCC is on board with the new policy, which is actually an extension of the "No Alcoholic Beverages" rule already in existence at the beach. I think that rule is fairly well accepted and with so many other places being smoke free these days, there shouldn't be a big problem. I think it's encouraging that a student group promoted this change.
