A fresh coating of snow on everything this morning, but not enough to measure. On our way home late yesterday afternoon, there was a little misty rain in the air as we were coming through Danville. Later in the evening it turned to snow, but we didn't find the roads slippery at all. This morning we found out that the interstate (I-89) was closed for a while until the road crews treated it and it had time for the salt to work.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our Waterford family. Every time I see our granddaughter, Jo-Ann, I am impressed with how grown up she is. Off at college in her junior year, she is truly developing into a beautiful young woman. Our younger grand, Tangeni, was unusually quiet yesterday, but there was a lot going on and see seemed to be taking everything in stride but sort of doing her own thing. She is still writing "books" and has graduated from pencil to pen and ink to full color illustrations. I thought this writing thing was just a faze that wouldn't last, but it's been well over a year with literally dozens of short stories written - and every on carefully preserved by her mom! What a scrapbook they will make years down the road.
It was very interesting to meet the two young students, both sophomores, at White Mountain School. One, Valentine, is from Kenya and is the brother of Edner, Jo-Ann's classmate who spent holidays with us when they were both seniors at WMS. Edner is in a university out west, and I think there is an older brother on the West Coast. The second student from WMS was Eric (American name he gave himself) who is from China. He was very quiet and I think had a little difficulty with English, although he told us he began learning English in China when he was in the second grade. That was when he took the name, Eric, because his teacher wanted the students to be more "American" while they were learning English. I was pleased that Eric kept going back to the "snickerdoodles" I'd brought. Both boys were extremely polite and fun to get to know. I'm sorry we didn't even think to take pictures . . . !
