This came from Shelly Walker today after she read my post about the bears:
Hi Jane,
I found the article on the blog about bears very interesting. I had not
seen that info before, but it makes sense. I have not had any problem
with bears (knock on wood), in spite of numerous sightings locally. I
have contended that it was because once or twice a week I put used kitty
litter in a garbage bag into the trash can. There has to be a lot of
ammonia in the cat waste. We now have a use for all that used kitty
litter!
Shell
That makes perfect sense! Bears have very sensitive noses and even in a garbage bag and trash container, they'd smell it and stay away.
On a different subject - we are ending the summer season now and I know there are a few of you who have neglected paying your Joe's Pond Association dues for this year. There is still the on-line option, so please use it and make life easier for everyone. Jack is wanting to close up the books for the season so if you haven't paid click HERE and pay them now!
Enjoy this beautiful late summer weather. We are all hoping the Florida folks don't get hit too hard on Labor Day by the hurricane that is churning their way. There are a number of Joe's Ponders who are back in Florida already - so we are thinking of them and their neighbors and hoping they stay safe. This looks like it could be a really bad storm.
