I'm sorry to see that this blog has become a rallying site against wake
boats. I have one and believe I am very responsible and respectful of
peoples property and the lake. I also have property, docks and other
boats on the pond. All types of boats create waves. Ever get caught
around a boat pulling tubes going in circles? Wake boats are like any
other boat unless their ballast tanks have water in them. I only have
water in my tanks when I'm using the boat to wake surf. When I am
surfing I try to stay in the middle of the pond unless I am forced to
one side or the other by other boats. Even then I am at least 300 feet
from shore. If I'm pulling a wake boarder or a skier or a tube I do not
have water in my ballast tanks. I understand that there are people who
are not respectful of property or other boats. No matter what type of
boat they are driving. This feels more like an attack on the wake boat.
It should be on the drivers. It is an enforcement issue. not a boat
issue. Please understand that these boat are a significant investment
and many people enjoy them responsibly ans should have every right to.
