We have had a rainy day again today.  There was .74 in. in my rain gauge this morning, and it rained pretty steadily most of the rest of the day.  Aren't we glad this wasn't snow!
I don't look forward to changing the clocks on Saturday night - it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other whether we use Standard or Daylight time - I just wish we could stay with one or the other and not have to change clocks and adjust to being "off" an hour twice each year.  The actual number of daylight/nighttime hours is not going to change - it's just how we manage our time.
We'll adjust, I'm sure, but it gives people something other than weather and politics to gripe about.
One a dreary, cloudy night like this, darkness comes quickly and early enough.
We stopped at White Market this morning when we were in St. Johnsbury.  We hardly ever go there without seeing one or two people we know, and this was no exception.  Today I saw Virginia Reed, a long-time friend both from when we lived in St. Johnsbury and also from when she and Russ had a cottage here at Joe's Pond.  Ginny is always upbeat and such a pleasure to know.  A few minutes after briefly greeting Ginny, I bumped into a former classmate from Cabot, Esther (Foster) Bona, who lives in Concord now.  It had been a while since I'd seen her, so it was very nice to catch up a little.  We made tentative plans to meet for lunch soon.  I'll try to coordinate with another schoolmate from Cabot, Mary (Blodgett) Fearon, who lives at the Colonial in St. Johnsbury.  The last time I saw Esther - this spring at Aubuchon Hardware - I got her phone number, but then I couldn't locate it.  She isn't listed in the phone book.  So now I have it, and won't lose it again.
