I was at the West Danville post office this afternoon, mailing out the envelopes of Ice-Out tickets JPA folks hadn't picked up during the summer. While Fred and I were putting postage stamps on the envelopes, Don Sherwood came into the store.
Don is always upbeat. Today he was seriously upbeat. He told us that yesterday at 1 o'clock when he went to finish closing the pavilion for the season, he found most of the curtains had been taken down and neatly folded and piled ready to be put away. Several people were there to help him, but none of them knew who had gotten the jump on the work. Turns out, the group that meets every morning at the tennis courts for pickle ball, had apparently taken time to do their part to help out. Don said it only took his crew a few minutes to wrap things up. He was very appreciative, and that's what I mean by being "seriously" upbeat. Joking aside, having this sort of thing happen just shows what a great group of folks we have in the JPA. I'm not sure exactly who did all that work (I think Don has a pretty good idea), but if it was you and you are reading this, consider yourself thanked - seriously.
Pickle ball will probably go on until snow flies - or until all the snow birds have gone south, so if you want to learn the game, you should just head for the recreation area early any morning, and there will likely be someone there who will happily get you started.
