Walden Bridge Replacement –VT 15

Project Location:  Bridge 83 is located over Joe’s Brook approximately 5 miles southeasterly of the Hardwick/Walden town line.  Project will include an allowable 28-day bridge closure period within the timeframe of June 22, 2015 and August 21^st, 2015.  Completion is scheduled for October 2015.

Bridge Closure Period – The contractor has scheduled the 28-day bridge closure period to begin on July 6^th and end on August 2, 2015. 

Detour - During the bridge closure period, a traffic detour will be in effect and marked with directional signs.  Motorists wanting to travel to Hardwick on VT 15 from US 2 West will continue on US 2 West to VT 215 Marshfield and follow VT 215 to VT 15 in Walden.  Motorists traveling from VT 15 in Walden to US 2 East will take VT 215 to Marshfield to US 2 East. 

Week of June 29^th, 2015

Independence Day Work Hours – With the upcoming holiday weekend, crews will not be working on the project from the afternoon of Thursday, July 2, 2015 thru Sunday, July 5^th.  Work will resume on the project Monday, July 6^th, 2015.

Crews will be setting up a platform under the bridge to contain the concrete debris during demolition.  Traffic will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic with flaggers present to assist in maintaining traffic flow. 

Traffic – Minor traffic delays are expected this week.

It is illegal in VT to use any handheld portable electronic devices while driving. The law carries fines of up to $200 with points assessed if the violation occurs in a work zone.
