More on the Fourth

I'm catching up gradually here at the computer.  Fred has worked the "bugs" out of at least three browsers, Chrome, Internet Explorer and Firefox, to get the video of the fireworks on Wednesday night to show up properly.  You'll find it right on home page.

We received another version from David Covell, our neighbor.  Looks like he was viewing the fireworks from perhaps the fishing access.  Here's a video and what he wrote:

Nice show tonight, thank you to the association!!

Thanks, David - interesting!  And it WAS a nice show.  We had visitors from Switzerland here to watch with us, and they enjoyed it very much.  They celebrate a similar "National Day" on August First.  As we waited and chatted before the fireworks began, we were wishing a bear might wander across our lawn - they would have loved to see a moose or bear - but the only creature that appeared was our cat, Woody, who strolled in to meet everyone and then went back outside to hunt, I suppose.  He came in again after everyone had left, but was outside during the fireworks.  Unlike most dogs, Woody seems fairly unconcerned with the fireworks.

We had more rain late yesterday afternoon into the evening, and this morning I measured .60" in my rain gauge.  This seems to be the unbreakable pattern for the next several days, at least.  It is nice to have some sunshine during the daylight hours, but we could really do with some drying-out time.  We just need to enjoy what we have and remember that we'll be freezing soon enough.  Have a wonderful day, and be safe.
