These pictures were taken yesterday showing the aftermath of Sunday's storm that took down several spruces at the head of Sandy Beach Road. The town came by and cleared away all the trees so the road is fully open now; later I expect they will come around and chip the leftovers. There were crews working all along West Shore Road yesterday clearing trees and limbs that had fallen either during the big snow last week or the wind storm this week. We've certainly had a variety of weather in the past month or so. Nothing boring about Vermont weather, for sure.
Someone sent a comment today indicating I stated Jamie was our middle son; I checked, and I did do that - haven't a clue why, but Jamie is, indeed, our youngest, Bob is middle son. Sorry about that.
Which reminds me. Jamie asks people around the pond to be on the lookout for a white barrel buoy that may be floating free or caught along the shoreline someplace. It belongs to Jane Milne. Jamie gave her one that he had in reserve, unclaimed from one of last year's storms, but it would be nice for Jane to have her original barrel back. So keep an eye out and either get in touch with Jane at 684-3343, or contact Jamie at 563-2914 - or let me know and I'll get the message to one of them.
Most of St. Johnsbury was without power until about midnight last night, and we're told the Danville side of the pond was restored at around 2 p.m. yesterday. I hope most folks have power now.
We're happy to report that Jane Larrabee is convalescing at home now. We say Bill and Diane Rossi last night and they said she seems to be doing well. I was thinking this weekend that Ray Walker surely had luck on his side for the wedding on Saturday when the weather was fine.
We've been asked to share this announcement:
Campaign for Vermont Founder Bruce Lisman will speak at the Willy Building in Cabot on Wednesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited.
Diane Langmaid reminds us that this is the weekend for the Jamboree at the St. Johnsbury Moose Club. Diane says, "Come have supper & stay for a GREAT time!! ....all for a good cause!!"
This Saturday is also the first Saturday of the summer the Cabot Historical Society Main Street museum will be open from 1-3 p.m. Plan to visit and bring the kids. There is a lot to see, and we have added several items for display. The research area grows every year, so if you want to come and look up your Cabot family, it's a good possibility you'll find something about them. We have lots of photos and some genealogies. Not all are on the website yet, but is available on paper at the museum. I look forward to seeing you there. I plan on having the building open every second Saturday of each month through September.
