What a not-so-nice day.  There's been a strong blustery wind right out of Canada all day, ripping off what's left of our pretty leaves, and - wait for it - SNOW SQUALLS.  I've been watching the hills of Walden where big blocks of white move between the ridges like creeping fog, and within minutes there are snowflakes here, sometimes drifting, sometimes swirling in the wind, and so far, melting as they hit the ground.  The sun pokes through the clouds momentarily, but the thermometers on both sides of our house are hanging around 30-32 degrees.

I have to go to Cabot in a little while to help set up for tomorrow's Apple Pie Festival.  It won't be pretty, moving stuff from the historical society building to the gym and from cars into the gym in this weather; but the good news is, in Cabot it will be spitting rain, not snow.  So we haul out the winter jackets and gloves and get to work.

I've collected lots of interesting stuff for the Silent Auction table, and I know several others have been receiving items, too.  It's always fun to see what's there and then see how well each item  does or doesn't do for us.  We keep our fingers crossed that we make enough on this fund raiser to get us through another year and put some by for upkeep on the two buildings we own, the Main Street Museum and West Hill School.

There will be lots of apple pie and other good things to eat at the festival tomorrow, and we have literally dozens of crafters coming to show their work.  It's a great time to get some one-of-a-kind gifts, have some fun, eat some great food, and spend the day where it's warm and friendly.  I hope I'll see some of you there!
