We've enjoyed another lovely fall day.  No foliage left - the wind blew like the dickens Sunday night, and ripped the last of them off most of the trees.  We still have the soft yellow tamaracks glowing here and there, but they won't last much longer, either.

I met middle son, Bob, for lunch at the Danville Restaurant today.  We are picking up our once-a-month lunch date now that summer's over.  Bob really enjoys Steve's buffet, and I really enjoy his westerns on home-made bread.  Bob said the BelAires are doing a benefit concert on November 3.  I'll have more information in a day or so.  Posters are out - one at W. Danville and one at the town hall in Danville.  There are lots of fans in this area, so we're hoping it will be a big success.

Today has also been a sad day.  We had an e-mail early this morning from an old friend letting us know his wife died yesterday.  It was sudden, after a fall a few days ago, and totally unexpected.  These things happen, but it's always hard to accept.

By the way, I just heard from our committee that the silent auction at the Apple Pie Contest was a big success.  Thanks to those of you who donated items.  I'm not certain, but I think we did better this year than in previous years.  I have a wrap-up meeting on Sunday so will know for sure then.

That is about it for me as far as working on these kinds of things goes for this year.  We have the Joe's Pond Ice-Out Contest to work at from now until probably May, but that's a slower pace until the middle of March.  From then on to the close on April 1st, things get a little frantic, but still we look forward to it, especially this year with all the changes taking place.

So I'm back at scanning and organizing photos, clippings and other historic bits and pieces, and enjoying some "time off" in between.
