Cabot in Division IV Soccer Playoffs
Spectator Bus
Friday, October 26th
3:00pm at Danville School

Cabot won a decisive victory, 11-0, against Rochester in the first game of  Division IV Boys’ Soccer Playoffs on Tuesday, October 23rd.

The next playoff game is Friday, October 26th against Danville at Danville School. There is no school for Cabot students this Friday.

Students and community members are invited to ride a spectator bus that will leave Cabot School promptly at 2:15pm on Friday.

All students must submit a permission slip to Linda Savoca by noon on Friday and students through 8th grade will need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout the game.

Bus seats must be reserved in advance.  Call Linda Savoca at 563-2289 to reserve your seat.

Danville and Cabot regular season records are the same at 10-3-1 so we are anticipating a competitive afternoon.

Come out and cheer on our Cabot Huskies !

We've had another super nice day today.  There was white frost this morning, but that melted as soon as the sun hit it, and there was a little bite to the wind, but with the sun warming things up, it was very nice.  Unfortunately, I had to spend the afternoon in the dentist's chair in St. Johnsbury.  Lost part of a tooth when eating popcorn about a couple weeks ago, so had a temporary filling and now getting the repair work done.  Not the way I would prefer to spend such a nice day, but I'm glad to be getting the tooth fixed permanently.

I mentioned that the BelAires are doing a benefit dance/concert on November 3rd.  Here's the poster that gives you the details.  This is the band that plays on Saturday nights at the Danville Fair, and lots of you are familiar with their music.  This will be a good chance to have some fun and support the Frechettes, who are facing mounting medical costs.

Sometimes it hardly pays to take time off.  We were only gone about three days, and it seems as if I got more e-mails requesting information in that short span of time than I've had all summer.  I've just about finished with the Osgood papers, and that's a relief; however, now I'm searching for any information we may have on familiar names like Stone and Walbridge, and there have been numerous announcements I'm hoping to catch up on.  For instance, a meeting tomorrow night:

Dear Cabot Community Members,

Please come to the Cabot Community Meeting on Thursday, October 25th from 6:30-9pm at the Willey Building. We will be presenting a synthesis of the big ideas that Cabot community members generated at the first set of forums in September. Community members will discuss the ideas and champion directions that they think will have the greatest long-term benefit for Cabot, vote for their top priorities for action, and can join task groups to move them forward if they would like to. This is a dynamic and interactive session and a great opportunity for Cabot to set some positive direction for the future. All Cabot community members are invited to come and help set priorities for action for the future of the community.

Through this process, community members have a tremendous opportunity to set bold, transformational goals for Cabot's future. The program is most successful when a diverse representation of the community participates. So we encourage you to spread the word to family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, businesses, service organizations, high school students, seniors, people who care about Cabot.

This process is open to everyone and everyone is invited and encouraged to come!

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you there,

These important messages came from Front Porch Forum:

ATV Local Law

Peter Dannenberg
Elm
The wording of the Cabot ballot regarding the ATV Ordinance is:
"Art. 1. Shall the voters of the Town of Cabot advise the Cabot Selectboard to adopt an ordinance regulating the operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATV's) YES NO"
Many find this vague. YES means ALLOW ATVs on more Cabot roads. NO says existing state law, which already allows ATVs on class 4 roads, is enough in Cabot. The word ALLOW is not on the ballot, even though allowing ATVs to use more Cabot town roads is the purpose of the vote.
Voters may think YES is a vote to restrict ATV use. IT IS NOT!
NO means keep the law unchanged. YES means open up ALL Cabot roads to ATV riders. Vote NO to keep the state law about ATV use on public roads.

Brigitte Codling, Selectboard Member
Rte 215 N
Hello,
A group of Cabot residents came to the October 3, 2012 Select Board meeting to hear Lieutenant Paul White of the Vermont State Police speak about crime in Cabot. After the meeting residents requested that a Neighborhood Watch Program be launched here in Cabot. I took it upon myself to arrange an orientation with the Vermont State Police for any interested residents. This meeting has been scheduled to take place on: Thursday November 1, 2012 at 7pm at the Willey Building 2nd Floor meeting room. All are welcome!
Brigitte
