We had tickets for the All-You-Can-Eat Ribs dinner, but then turned them in when we learned we were having a family "multi-birthday party." Our granddaughter, Tangeni, turned one year old on July 5th, her uncle Bob's birthday was on the 7th, and her mom's will be on the 14th, so it was decided to celebrate all at the same time. We got together at Bill and Monika's instead of at camp since there was possible rain in for forecast. The weather turned out to be no problem, and we had a great time. Here is a picture of Tangeni and her sister, Jo-Ann, taste-testing the frosting on the birthday cake. She may have had her eye on the orange slices or cherries, too. Later she cut the first slice, with help from big sister. I've put together a short slide show. Of course, all of the attention was on her, not Uncle Bob or Mommy Monika.
Fred and I took a short walk this morning. It was beautiful - fresh and cool. We say a hawk circling overhead, and Fred was able to get a couple of pictures. The cows in the meadow by Deeper Ruts Road were an easier target, and I got a picture of them. Click on any of the pictures to make them larger.
There seem to be some clouds moving in as I write this, but it's still very nice. Fred has gone out to mow the lawn, and I have some inside work to attend to.
Don't forget the Wine Tasting Event at the pavilion this afternoon. It's from 3-7 p.m. and tickets are $30. I believe you can still get tickets at the door, but best to call for reservations if you can reach anyone - I expect all involved are busy getting the pavilion set up and ready.
taste test, so you won't come away hungry or thirsty. We were told yesterday there will be plenty of non-alcoholic beverages to sample as well as local wines and beers. Unfortunately, Fred and I have another engagement, so we will not be there, but I'm sure it will be a very lovely and special evening, and I'm sorry to miss it.
