Here's what one of the blog readers had to say:
I know what you mean about the saltines. I have tried in vane to find old-fashioned saltines out here in Tucson and haven't found them. I wonder how we let Nabisco know?
In the meantime though, Tom and John carry a really good selection of crackers at Diamond Hill.
Here's another suggestion:
Saltines aren't that difficult to make. With a little practice, you can make your own.
So I went on line and found a recipe for Saltine crackers - sure enough, it looks relatively easy! I think I'll see if I can make some - without burning them to a crisp . . .
Right now, our kitchen sink is stopped up. The drain has given us trouble before, but this time it happened for no apparent reason, and very suddenly. Just before supper. We tried, but haven't been able to get it unplugged. We took the trap off, but that was clear - so we know it's further down the line and will require more expertise than we have. Of course, this is a big weekend, with Mother's Day and all, so we hesitated to even try to find someone to come - but our friend, John Hammer, will come tomorrow afternoon. In the meantime, we can manage since all the other drains are functioning well. It's kind of like camping, though, trying to get a meal together without being able to run water in the kitchen sink. Fortunately, we have another sink in the basement, and of course in the bathroom, so we can function, but it sure makes me appreciate plumbing - and plumbers!
