We have something of a mystery to report. A large piece of what was thought to be marsh became wedged at the Semprebon cottage on Old Homestead Road. Turns out it is a piece of styrofoam, 4-6 ft across, that has vegetation on it. We don't know if it is something someone designed as a loon nesting platform or if it is simply a stray piece of styrofoam that had lodged in the marsh area, as lots of flotsam and debris does, and had been there long enough for the marsh to grow over it.

If you recognize this as something someone is missing, get in touch with Tom Semprebon at 684-2209. The mass is lodged under their dock and the plan is to cut it in two in order to release it.

I also learned yesterday (and would have forgotten to mention it except Fred reminded me) that Sambel's - the restaurant that used to be at the Barre-Montpelier airport - is planning to have a "dinner to go" truck at the turnoff by Frye's Quarry just east of West Danville on Route 2. Here is a link to their website:
www.sambels.com
To see the menu, click on "Dinner to Go Truck" - I didn't see the hours posted there, and I wasn't able to talk to anyone at the numbers I found on the website, so I guess you'll have to just go down and see if the truck is there.
