Hotter than the dickens today. It's 80 degrees outside my office and the sun isn't even shining. We just came home from St. Johnsbury - there seemed to be a nice breeze there, but it was awfully hot. We were glad to get home.

We had lunch at Dylan's, which was very nice. They don't have ai
r conditioning, but it wasn't bad there at all. they have several overhead fans and it was pretty comfortable even though there were quite a lot of people there. I took the pictures above while I was waiting for the others to come. We were there a little early, and it was quiet, but soon after noon, it got very busy. That's Fred, cousin Ora, his sister, Joanne, and Ora's friend, Kate as they arrived at Dylan's.

Before I left this morning, I put a notice on about a spaghetti dinner at Cabot church for flood relief. It was just text because I didn't have time to convert the poster Sue Freeburn sent - now I've done that and here it is. It really cute, and for a worthy cause, so worth repeating. Click it to enlarge.

I had an e-mail this morning from Laura Mills who has been looking for her stray dock, about 15 feet long and 3 feet wide. We haven't heard from anyone, so she's assuming it's literally "over the dam." I suggested she might find someone who is replacing their dock who would like to get rid of their old wooden one, assuming it's still useable, and it would be worth putting a notice here to see if we could find one for her. So, if anyone has a dock or maybe part of one that would maybe work for her, get in touch with me and I'll let her know. I think she's coming to Joe's Pond tomorrow for a few days, and her camp is west of George and Judy Anderson's on the middle pond, if you want to stop by with any suggestions or possibilities for a dock for her.

I think a couple years ago we had one or two docks floating around that perhaps never found their way back to their owners and were likely eventually destroyed. The timing doesn't always work out to coordinate these things, but it's worth a try.

Fred took this picture when we were in West Danville at the post office this morning. I hadn't noticed the sign on the Joe's Pond Country Store advertising "Antiques" before. We'll try to get in there soon to see what that's all about. Jeff, as some of you know, is hoping to sell his log cabin on West Shore Road and will then live in the apartment over the store - a consolidation that will be better for him in many ways. Adding antiques to his business is an interesting concept. The place where there used to be an antiques business, across the bridge at the corner of Oneida Rd. and Rt. 2, is for sale. We'll have more on Jeff's addition soon.
