We have a skimming of new snow on the ground this morning. The temperature is about 33 degrees, so it's another raw, chilly day. Here's an encouraging note from Evelyn, though:
Good Morning Jane! Well, yet another positive sign of spring!! At exactly 6:42 am this morning (April 18) Ray and I watched our male loon (from the Cabot Pair) land in the cove!! It started off fishing right away and has been very successfully catching his breakfast... now the otter has joined in having its breakfast too, dining on the edge of the ice... The cove is very active with geese, and ducks accompanied by redwinged blackbirds trying hard to usher in spring with their beautiful distinctive song... Above, I have distinguished the loon as the 'Cabot male' as now Joe's Pond has a West Danville nesting site and a Cabot nesting site. The male is usually the one to arrive first with the female coming along within a week. It certainly doesn't feel much like spring out there though with snow in the air... We will stay close to the wood fire yet again for this morning... hope you are cozy too... Blessings, Evelyn
