I'm taking just a few minutes to post pictures from our walk down Sandy Beach Road a few minutes ago. It is so pretty this afternoon, we decided to get outside and check the water level in the pond. It's high and climbing. We'll let you see what things look like: Checking Water
We saw Sue LaGue on our walk - she's trying to get their new house ready so they can move in on about May 1. She said her neighbors, the Gagnes, are moving in this weekend. I guess there are a few things to finish up on both homes, but it's good to know things are about on schedule.
Other folks will be moving back soon, I expect. We think we saw Larry and Carol Byrd as we were heading home. The Byrds usually come back pretty early (no pun intended!)
Speaking of birds, we're hearing lots of geese and ducks down on the pond these days, so that's a sure sign spring is here. They'll have no trouble finding open water now - the marsh where the channel runs into the pond is flooded and it won't be long before the flow of water will have cut deep into the ice at the upper regions of the pond. We're getting some serious melting right now.
I was surprised and really pleased to see that my daffodils are up 3-4 inches at the south end of our house. It's a raised bed and the snow always is off there before it is anywhere else, so they get an early start each year. We're seeing more signs of spring every day. Hooray!!
