This news release came to me today - a follow-up on the urgent message posted a few days ago. Always nice to hear a happy ending, although, with the economy they way it is, I'm sure this unfortunate story of families' hardship will go on for some time and more than ever, volunteers and donations will be needed.

November 9, 2010 - Cabot Creamery Saves the Day

In a show of unprecedented community support Cabot Creamery will be hauling nearly 7,000 pounds of food from the Barre Vermont Food Bank to Faith In Action Northern Communities Partnership, Inc in Cabot, VT for their free food distribution to be held from 12pm – 2pm on Wednesday, November 10th (located in the Masonic Hall building, 3339 Main St.).

FIANCP, a certified 501c3 nonprofit, hosts a twice-monthly free Food Share program from their Cabot Village office. This program serves over 150 local families and individuals in need and will distribute approximately 200,000 pounds of free food this year.

“I knew that we would figure something out but it was very stressful worrying about how we were going to get all that food here,” says FIANCP Office Coordinator Faye Longo. “When I got that call back and the Creamery said they would transport the food for us I was elated. The Creamery came through for us and our community more than they will ever know.”

FIANCP offers many programs, events and services through its Cabot office and branch office in Lyndonville, including the twice-monthly Food Share, our monthly Senior Adventure Morning with Erma Perry in Cabot and Julie Schafer in Woodbury, Community Dinners, and many other classes and events. Through our Volunteers we are able to offer help with transportation, friendly visiting, homemaking and repair services, short term respite and much more. We are always working towards our goal of helping our elderly and disabled neighbors stay in their homes and communities as long, happily, healthily, and safely as possible.

Every service, event and program offered by FIANCP is FREE of charge!

If you know someone who could use some help or are interested in Volunteer opportunities please call us at (802) 563-3322 or stop by the office.
