This has not been a bright and pleasant day here. We've had rain, and sometimes a few snowflakes mixed in, off and on all day. The thermometer has not reached 40 degrees all day.
I went to Cabot this morning and spent some time at the town offices checking some cemetery deeds. I also stopped at Blanche Lamore's for a few minutes. Blanche is looking very chipper and recovering from her operation and the pneumonia very nicely.
On the way home, near Deeper Ruts Road, I saw what I believe was a very large coyote cross the road, heading towards Walden. Unfortunately I didn't have time to get a picture. I haven't seen enough coyotes in the wild to really know how large they get, but I believe I've read they can be a good bit larger than for instance, a German shepherd. Whatever it was, it cleared the road in about two leaps and disappeared almost instantly into a hollow in the field below. I watched for a few moments, but didn't see it again.
Just a reminder - a week from tomorrow is the last day for paying your taxes in Cabot.
I heard in the news today that Danville voted for Australian balloting on Tuesday. Overwhelmingly, they said. I guess that proves there are lots of changes going on these days, and not just between the political parties. For instance, Cabot voted in March to merge the Village with the Town, and there were plenty of pros and cons before that was decided. They have been separate entities since the Village was incorporated in 1866. It's all getting ironed out, and I guess it should mean more efficiency for bookkeeping, at least. I'm not sure what other impact it will have.
We had a snow squall a few minutes ago. I guess it's going to be a nasty night to be out on the roads.
