Here's the first reported casualty of the recent rains -

With the weather we've had up here, my fishing boat capsized at the dock and I lost one of the oars. It is wooden, painted a light blue with leather wrap for the attached oar lock. Once the water level goes down, we'll take a cruise to search the shore but in the mean time, if someone has found it, please give me a call at camp, 563-2716.

Thanks everyone, Butch Bouchard

Hope you find it, Butch. I imagine there are other capsized or water-logged boats around the pond. I noticed when we were out yesterday there were still lots of boats in the water, tied to docks.

If the temperature has gone above 50 degrees today, I missed it. Although the forecast this morning didn't seem to be saying we'd be getting a frost tonight, I'm going to cover the tomatoes tonight, just in case. Tomorrow night we'll get one for sure, but then perhaps we'll have a few days of warmer weather to let a few more of them ripen off.

We walked down on Sandy Beach Road this morning, but there was no activity there at the building site. It looked as if everything is fine except there's a whole lot of mud - of course. By Monday when the crew gets back at it things should be dried out a bit. We took this picture as the sun was just touching the top of the hill - I believe Farmer John owns that land, or he used to. The view is spectacular from there - we were up there many years ago with my father.

Fred is out stacking wood again. He's getting anxious to have the new supply here so he can get it stacked before the really cold weather.
