We had a lovely weekend with great weather. A little on the cool side for some folks, especially compared to the really hot and humid weather we've recently had, but for most it was welcome relief.

There we
re lots of people around, too. We noticed lots of cars parked by cottages on both Saturday and Sunday, with grills smoking and activity of all kinds on the water. We bumped into Larry Byrd on Sandy Beach Road. He told us Joe's Pond is much quieter than their winter home in Largo, Florida. Sounds like he and Carol keep very busy down there and really appreciate the slower pace at Joe's Pond. That's Larry in the picture on the left.

Dawn Jordan, who loves Joe's Pond and just spent a week here at a rental cottage on Clubhouse Circle, sent these great pictures of our mother loon teaching her young one to fish. Apparently she was very generous and shared her "catch" with her chick - that's what mothers do, right? I'm sure the chick will be well prepared to fish for himself by the end of the summer when the adults take off to winter at the seashore some place. Here's the very short slide show I made of Dawn's photos:

I was talking with Walter Ruf yesterday and he asked about the cell tower at the farm on Cabot Plain. As near as I can tell from looking at the documents posted on the Environmental Court web site, there have been decisions, an appeal, and it seems to be headed for a court trial. We are going to call the EC today to see if we can get more information. The hold up seems to be with the neighbors who believe it will adversely impact them, and while the original decision seemed to be that there was no substantial evidence of that, apparently there was reason to believe they should have their day in court. I'll keep you posted on that.
