We've had a couple of brief thunder storms - one this afternoon and one (so far) tonight. Not a lot of rain as near as I can tell, and fortunately the storm wasn't one of those nail-biting white knuckle storm we sometimes have when the thunder is a continuous rumble and the lightning cracks and sizzles all around us. I don't like any kind of thunder storm, even the mild ones.

Most of the day was pretty nice. We stopped at camp for a few minutes around lunch time, and while it was pretty quiet there with only Theresa, Bob and Casey, I expect some of the rest of the family made it this afternoon. While we were there it was fun watching the parade of boats going by. When we were living at camp year around, we got to know who owned which boat and recognized them as they went by. Now we don't have a clue unless they putter by close enough so we can recognize someone in the boat.
Here's a short slide show of the "parade" today: A Summer Day on Joe's Pond

We are still having a little problem with e-mail. The providers (ours and those of the folks who aren't receiving messages from me) are playing the blame-game and each one says the problem is with the other provider. I may have to depend on the old fashioned telephone to deliver messages. That would be a big switch. But right now it is far more dependable that the e-mailing is.

Bottom line - if you send me an e-mail and I don't answer, it may be bec
ause my reply isn't getting to you. I do check my e-mail regularly and often, and usually answer the same day. I do believe most go through perfectly well, though.

Here's a poster about the up-coming program a week from tomorrow, on Sunday, July 25th. We think it will be an interesting discussion for people who like history and/or quilts. The border of the poster is the quilt, but of course the names written on each square aren't visible. It was apparently well made and especially well taken care of, for it seems to be in very good condition as far as we can tell from the pictures. The Perrins saw the real thing, of course, and were impressed at how well preserved it is. Mary Jane Bickford Howe's great granddaughter had it hung on a wall in a bedroom before giving it to the museum in N. Dakota a few years ago. Anyway, if you are interested, stop by on July 25th.
