Rain off and on today - but not a totally bad day weather wise. We still got lots done, but I have a frustrating problem with my e-mail. A lot of the messages I have sent in the past several days never reached their destination. I'm not sure why that is happening, but Fred is going to call tech support since it seems to be connected to some blip with Fairpoint. I've been waiting for several responses that just never came, so today I followed up with phone calls and that's how I found out the original messages never were received.

I'm lining things up for the tour of Cabot school houses I'm conducting on August 14th for the Cabot Alumni Association. I did a similar tour a number of years ago and it was very interesting to see the old schools that have been renovated into homes. We also have a couple of buildings that have been restored - West Hill School and Walbridge School. The West Hill School has authentic furniture and looks very much as it did when it was in use from the late 1800's to 1919. The Walbridge School has been renovated for living space, but still has some old desks, books, lamps, etc., that make the building seem authentic inside, and it looks much as it did when it was in a grove of maples on the Walden Road. It was moved to the corner of Cabot Plains Road and the Bayley Hazen Road by Richard Spaulding, in the 1970's, after it had been closed for over 50 years. Mr. Spaulding has generously opened it frequently for visitors, and it's always a pleasure to go there. There are three other schools we hope to be able to go into - South Cabot, the Plains School, and Lower Cabot - all of which have been renovated as homes. The people who will be on the tour all went to school somewhere in Cabot, so there will no doubt be lots of story telling and fond memories shared.

I had this photo from Diane Rossi. She says she thinks it's getting too crowded in the robins' nest and somebody is bound to fall out soon. I guess that's one way to learn to fly . . . They really need a few more feathers before they can be successfully air-worthy, I think.

Now I'm going to let Fred have the computer so he can trouble-shoot why some of my e-mails aren't getting to people. I'm not happy with a computer that takes over and decides selectively who will receive my e-mails . . .
