I had an interesting e-mail from Lori Schrader today. She wrote:

I was in our local Albertson's grocery store today, in Port St. Lucie, FL, and a woman walked by and made a comment about my Vermont t-shirt. She said she was from Barre originally, and that much of her family lived in the area still, and had been active in the Granite industry.
I mentioned the fact that there had been snow, and that I had learned that from a blog about Joe's Pond. She said her uncle/godfather lives at Joe's and was active in the JPA. It turns out that he is Ray Rouleau. Her name is Terry Waugh.
Lori went on to comment that this is really a small world. I passed her story on to Ray and he was pleased at the contact and said he hasn't seen Terry in a long time. Perhaps she'll find our Joe's Pond web site and blog and through us get in touch with Ray and Cyndy. Now would be an excellent time - there isn't a lot going on around Joe's Pond just now, just rain, snow squalls and lots of very confused migrating birds - not to mention returning summer residents! I've heard from Ray a couple times since he and Cyndy have been back and I know he's anxious for nice weather so he can get our road signs in place and get the season off to a good early start.

I just remembered I was going to measure the water level in the pond today. It's been a mix of rain and snow showers and I didn't have the least inclination to go outside except briefly this morning when I went to get the daffodils. Bill and Diane Rossi stopped by for a few minutes just before lunch, and we haven't seen or heard from anyone else all day except for some e-mail exchanges. Fred has been reworking some of the web site pages - you'll notice a difference when you go to the Local Services pages - and I've been reorganizing some of my historical society files. Not an exciting day, but productive.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
