Today was very nice. We actually had temperatures in the 20's - may have been higher briefly in the sunshine, but what started as another blah day turned out very nice.

Fred and Bill Rossi went into St. Johnsbury right after lunch because Fred had to do some errands and it was Diane's day to host the mahjong ladies, so Bill wanted out of the house. I went for a walk.

I haven't bored you with a slide show for a while, so I put the pictures I took on my walk with the ones Fred took and made one for you. I didn't leave for a while after Fred, but we got home about the same time. It was still nice and I sort of hated to come in, but I had work to do . . . Notice the lack of snow banks along the flat by the big field beyond our house. There are drifts here and there, and more snow in the woods where the wind hasn't blown it off, but lots of bare or nearly bare ground. Some spots in the road were showing signs of thawing where the sun hit, but not much of that going on yet. It did feel a little like spring, though. I guess it's wishful thinking, and it seems to me I heard something about getting some weather of some sort in the next day or so. Which is ok - I just hope it stays a little warmer. Here are the pictures. Slide Show

Also, Fred brought home a menu from Chef Woods' Green Mountain Trolley which is located at the beach in West Danville. Woody's been there for a while, but
mostly just getting adjusted and ready for the summer folks to return. The snowmobile crowd hasn't really developed this year because we've had so little snow. Woody's offering a really extensive take-out menu and I bet folks will like having him there. What an easy way to put together a lunch or evening meal on a hot summer day! He has a phone (802-684-8020) so you can call ahead, and according to the menu he'll have desserts soon, too. Right now he's open from 10a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. I've put both sides of his menu together here so click on it to make it large enough to read well.
