Good news - only .01 inch of precipitation in the past 24 hours. We checked the water level in the pond and it was 3.5 below the top of the sea wall at Walter Ruf's, down 1/2 inch from last time we measured on Friday afternoon. We were later than usual checking it - about 6 p.m., in the dark, with a flashlight, on our way to Bill and Diane Rossi's for dinner. (Great meal and lots of fun, by the way!)

There is a whole different perspective down there on the waterfront on a cold, very dark night. Last night there was a mist coming off the water and everything was very wet and slippery. But it was good to see the water was going down. Unless we get a lot of rain, we probably won't check it again, at least for a while. We don't expect the pond to freeze any time soon - unless we get some really cold weather. So far we've only had temperatures in the teens a few scattered nights - and daytime temps in the 40's, so the water isn't quite down there yet. But one or two nights of real low readings and no wind would do it. Used to be the pond froze over around or soon after Thanksgiving, but that doesn't happen as often in late years.

Someone sent me a forward with this photo - since it was about 1909 events, with lots of statistics and the picture identified as a 1909 model; but when you look closely it is apparently a 1907 model, so the rest of the stuff couldn't be verified, and probably wasn't reliable information, even though I'm sure it was somewhere close to correct. The mistake on identifying the car was enough to make me toss the rest. Cool old car, though, isn't it?

This that came over night:
