We had a hard rain late this afternoon, complete with thunder and some lightning. It didn't appear to be too bad here, although the rain was very heavy for a while, but I had the scanner on and emergency crews to the west of us were busy with all sorts of problems. In the span of about two hours, I heard them called out for a fire in Barre (that turned out to be a permitted outdoor fire someone had seen from a distance and it looked as if it was the roof of a building); an auto roll over on the median on I89; an ATV roll over that pinned the driver (I think that was in Woodbury); and a possible tornado touch down in Washington with a roof torn from a building, trees and power lines down. Tonight on the news there was a report of hail in the Burlington area. We didn't get any of that.

After the hard rain, there was a dense layer of fog hovering over the pond. The sun was out and everything was fresh and green, and the air was soft and had that wonderful fresh smell that happens after it rains on warm earth, and we stood on our deck and admired the view as we snapped pictures.

Fred and I had been down at camp earlier in the afternoon to see how the boys progressed with repairs to the dock area. Looks as if Mr. Walbridge did a good job of welding it and it's ready for the decking to be put back on. We took a few pictures there and I've included them in a very short slide show, along with those we took tonight. Tomorrow is going to be quite a change - colder temperatures is the order of the day, unfortunately. However, we can't complain - tonight was so lovely. Take a look:
