I've been busy today. All the preparations for the wedding are finished and delivered. Everything seems to be in perfect control now, after a really rocky week of last-minute changes and decisions. The reception had been scheduled to take place downstairs at the church, but when Monika, Marie and I looked at it Tuesday, we decided it would be better to bring everyone back to the house for the reception. From then on things went pretty smoothly - except suddenly yesterday, we were told the two organists who usually play at the church were both unavailable. A few hours later the minister had found a substitute, so things settled down again. I finished up the cake this morning and it looks pretty darned good, if I do say so myself. The topper was too large for the small fourth tier of the cake, so I packaged that up and it's already frozen, ready for keeping until the bride and groom's first anniversary, and the pretty topper will fit perfectly on the third tier. I used small silk roses on the cake with a little piping between layers to make it look a little more professional, at least. I'll have pictures tomorrow. The flower arrangements came out nice, too, thanks to all the greens Fred gathered for me in the deep cold on Wednesday.

On the way to Bill's tonight we stopped for gas at Marty's 1st Stop. There must have been a couple dozen snowmobilers milling about, and we could see more coming along the trail across the road as we were leaving. This must have been a great week for them and continuing through the weekend. St. Johnsbury was quiet, but when it's this cold (it's actually warmer here at the pond tonight,15 above, but it felt colder in St. J.), nobody wants to be out in the night unless they have to be.

I won't have as much on my mind tonight as I did last night, so I expect I'll sleep a whole lot better. Last night I was reviewing my list of things to do most of the night. I guess we've thought of everything - at least, that's what I'm telling myself tonight, and if we missed something, it won't be noticed, I'm sure. Monika is going to be a beautiful bride. Fred and I will take lots of pictures and I'll try to post them tomorrow.
