I had a tough time getting that last post about deer hunting to behave. I'm not familiar with html, but Fred is, and we finally got it to hang together with a font size large enough to read and consistant. In the meantime, I had this very important message from George Parizo, and I'll emphasize it:

Pat and I have been down to Springfield Vt. with the Family for Thanksgiving and Doc. appointment for Pats foot (that's not serious). We returned "home" to Joe's Pond yesterday afternoon. Today at 2:00 pm we saw a person on the southeastern
shore of the lake walking, or X- skiing on the ice near the shore line. PLEASE EVERYONE USE CAUTION ON THIN ICE AS THERE IS STILL OPEN WATER ACROSS THE LAKE FROM EAST TO WEST
Yes Jane I was an avid deer hunter when I was younger, I still hunt but have slowed down some (age?)

I totally agree with George - of course the ice is not safe this early. There are thin spots and open water, as we have just pointed out. Fred and I noticed today on our walk that there is a large strip of open water from Smith's Point all the way across to about Keenan's. DON'T GO ON THE ICE UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT A COLD BATH. Please remember, too that if you go through the ice, not only you are in danger, but the people who (hopefully) come to rescue you are, too. Don't do that to our emergency rescue crews. They have enough real emergencies to endanger them without someone being stupid going through the ice. This time you were apparently very fortunate not to get into trouble. That would likely not be the case the next time.

This has been a pretty busy blogging day! I just had another news flash - Steve Allen writes that he's heard someone has bought (or is leasing/renting) and is renovating the hardware store in Danville. According to what Steve learned, the upstairs will be office space. We'll keep you posted - hopefully we'll learn details soon.

As our lovely autumn days begin to turn a bit chill and dreary - the transition from October to November is like that  - I want to share so...
