Seems like I'm back in business again after a short (thankfully) bout with vertigo. I've yet to find a better way to deal with that than just staying in bed. A doctor once told me to hang my head as far over the side of the bed as possible and then quickly sit up and do it as many times as I could. He said that trains the brain to resist the whirling dizziness and eventually (if you can endure the treatment!) the vertigo will lessen and go away. Dr. Russell, who practiced in St. Johnsbury for many years, told me to go to bed and stay there until the dizziness left. Works for me.

Here are some pictures of the meeting on Saturday. You'll
notice the pavilion is bedecked with lights and balloons - all in preparation for the Danville High School Prom night which was held Saturday evening. The weather cleared and warmed a bit just before dark, so I imagine it was a lovely evening for those young folks.

By the way, we've been looking for a way to reduce the noise level in the pavilion. When there is a crowd of people talking, it's very loud, and so far nobody has come up with a good solution. But some folks at the meeting Saturday thought the balloons seemed to work pretty well . . .

I hope those of you who wanted the printed version of the Joe's Pond Directory got yours on Saturday. If you forgot to ask for it, contact Tom Dente.

Someone asked if there would be a boating safety course offered this year. There will be one on July 5th and 6th at Groton State Park Nature Center. Anyone interested should contact Jim Soutar, 479-2400 (days) or 584-3878 (nights & weekends). There is
pre-study required, so you should pick up the manual at least a week before the course begins. This course is sponsored by the Lake Groton Camper's Association, and students must be 11 years old before the end of 2008 and pre-register by June 27th. All persons born after January 1, 1974, are required to complete a boating safety course before operating a motorboat on Vermont waters. There is no charge for this course.

As you know, work has begun at the beach in West Danville. Fred took some pictures last week when he and Bill Rossi went to see how things were coming along. They talked with a man who works for the Myers Container Service Co., known locally as "The Red Can Family," that will be cleaning up the area. The Myers Company now serves this area, and if you want to contact them, here's their web site: The Red Can Family

We had a comment at the end of yesterday's posting with more information about cell phone directories, if you're interested. Thank you, "pinetrees" for sharing that.

This came from Helen Morrison:
The high school students from Cabot going to Belize in the spring of 2009, will begin their bottle drives right after July 4. If folks want to call me to come and get bottles, 563-2488, I would be happy to do so, or they can leave them in front of the red doors of my garage. Thanks so much. Helen
Fred took these pictures when he was on his way home from the meeting on Saturday.

I haven't transcribed Fred's notes from the meeting yet, but I'll put a recap of those on the blog soon for those of you who weren't able to attend. I left the secretarial duties in good hands, for sure.
