Just a few items today. I've been a bit under the weather for the past couple of days, but have some interesting stuff I want to get posted. I missed the JPA Spring Meeting, but Fred took notes for me and I'll report on the meeting later when I'm running at full efficiency again.

In the meantime, I had this from Bev and Steve Allen: (They report they've checked it out and found it to be true.)

Cell phone companies are charging $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 Information calls. Since no one carries a telephone directory in their Vehicle, they get away with it. When you need to use the 411 Information option, simply dial 1(800) FREE 411, or 1 (800) 373-3411; you will incur no charge. This works on your home telephone as well.

Also, this may be of interest to some of you:

Cookout to benefit new arts building at Cabot School

A cookout with live music will be held on the town Common in Cabot on Saturday, June 7th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. On the menu is pulled pork and baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw, hamburgers and hot dogs, along with a large variety of homemade pies prepared by a crew of Cabot cooks led by NECI chef David Hale. A number of local musicians will share the outdoor stage during the meal, so please bring a good appetite along with lawn chairs or a blanket, and enjoy some fine music along with a delicious picnic dinner on the green.

The meal cost is $10/plate and $6 for children under 12, and all proceeds will go towards the new Cabot School Performing Arts Center that will be built during the 2008-2009 school year. Please call Gemma Yamamoto at 563-2068 if you are planning to attend, so that we can be sure to have enough food prepared. Walk-ins are also welcome.

You should also remember to check the "Events Schedule" here on our web site for all the Joe's Pond events scheduled throughout the summer as well as area events. We try to keep this calendar up to date, and we're pleased to list events for local organizations in our surrounding towns of Cabot, Danville or Walden.

Here's another interesting notice from Amanda's Greenhouse in Cabot:

The Danville Farmers' Market starts again this year THIS Wednesday - 9 - 1 on the Green - Free plants for the first 100 visitors.
Lots of good things to eat - early spring veggies, bedding and perennial plants, gifts, eggs, meats, etc!

When it comes to free directory assistance, you have LOTS of choices. They differ in some important ways, so try them all out and see which one(s) you prefer. With this many companies trying to get our search attention, you may want to try them all every so often just to see what's new! Grin!

I prefer the ones that have operators to help when the automation doesn't recognize me, that get me ACCURATE information fast, and that also don't restrict me to only business searches - sometimes I need to find people, too! My favorite is 1-800-YellowPages, but I encourage you to try them all.

Spring Mix!

I started this a couple days ago but got kind of busy and never got back to it. I had posted about the Route 2 construction, but that notice...
