April Fool's Day

We awoke to dense fog and temperatures in the 40's this morning. The air smelled like spring. We had some rain, the fog lifted, sun broke through the clowds about mid-morning, and now the thermometer outside my window is reading 52 degrees. The sun has disappeared, but we're enjoying what appears to be SPRING.

Personally, I think it's Mother Nature's cruel trick and by night there will be snow, sleet, and mayhem as her shrill laughter echos from the hillsides, carried by hurricane force winds. Even if the warm weather lasts, we'll get our comeuppance as the unpaved roads turn to jelly and running water wreaks havoc across our lawns and into our basements. But for now, it sure feels good.

Our cat, Woody, knows the weather is changing. He has been wild last night and today. Last night he raced through the house, flying over chairs and tables, inand out of the bathtub (a favorite playpen) and sliding around corners in the kitchen. It's a nightly game he plays at our bedtime, I suppose trying to convince us to play with him, which we always do - for a while. Thankfully, he quiets down after lights out. This morning was the same except he alternated the pattern with going outside to sit patiently staring down a supposed squirrel hole in the snow next to the driveway. When he came in, he'd race from one end of the house to the other, and then, after a quick snack, go back to the squirrel hole. By mid-morning he finally took to his bed high on the kitchen cupboard. He'll be there the rest of the day, I expect, but tonight, if the weather is warm, he's going to want to be outside again.

There are certainly indications spring could be here . . . stay tuned.

Another Adventure

This week turned out to be a doozie for me. I had anticipated going for a follow-up on my knee on Monday, but instead ended up in the ER at ...
