Party Time!

 

This year the cocktail party is dedicated to our mission control EWM [Eurasian Watermilfoil] at Joe's. This year's party features a Silent Auction where some higher-end items (e.g., art work, whiskey decanter and glasses, LL Bean Bags) will be auctioned off, as well as our regular raffle prizes (e.g., gift certificates, hand-made crafts,  maple syrup).

Attendees are asked to bring cash and/or checkbooks to the party. All proceeds will go to JPA [Joe's Pond Association].

This is a great way to celebrate the end of the summer season and at the same time support the work being done to combat the EWM. Not all of us can volunteer to dive or snorkel, but participating at our JPA fundraisers is something we can do, and happily, Joe's Ponders are a fine social bunch - and generous! This will be a fun party!

 

 

On a personal note - I've lost my furry house-guest! Thor was picked up by his family yesterday afternoon. Like a typical spoiled child, he put on quite a performance, hiding and acting like he had no clue who Tangeni was. She was so excited to see him, and he took off like a shot and hid under my bed. I think it was his way of punishing her for leaving him so long. Once we caught him and she had him securely in her arms, he began purring - bad boy turned happy cat! He's such a black imp and cuddly buddy, I have to admit, I miss him! I'm still expecting him to dart in front of me on the way to the kitchen at mealtime, but I didn't miss the hide-and-seek game at bedtime last night! I'll be happy to have him back whenever they want to leave him with me, but for now, it's nice not to have the responsibility of being sure an all-intoor-cat is safely indoors! And I don't have to move his limp furry body off my computer keyboard and mouse pad in order to work!

Be careful in this intense heat. Put off strenuous work if you can, keep hydrated, and stay in the shade. You might do a little rain dance if you have the energy -- we really, really, need rain.
