A Simple Reminder About An Important Issue

I have been asked to post this reminder about supporting Responsible Wakes for Vermont Lakes petition if you have concerns about the use of large-wake producing boats on small bodies of water in Vermont:

Dear Joe’s Pond Association Members,

Public support can greatly influence Vermont's Agency of Natural Resources' (ANR's) decision to manage wake boats on Vermont's lakes and ponds.

Please read the letter of support for the Responsible Wakes for Vermont Lakes (RWVL) petition
https://tinyurl.com/RWVLLetterOfSupport and show your support for the RWVL petition by submitting this form. Simply provide your name, town information, and email address and click "submit" at the bottom of the form. This letter, including the list of supporter names and towns (but not email addresses) will be sent to the Agency of Natural Resources Secretary, Julia Moore. Please share the link for this letter of support with your immediate household members, other family members, friends, and community members who wish to preserve our lakes.

You may ask: Why is the effort to gather signatures of Vermonters and those vacationing in Vermont so important? Whether the ANR petition succeeds or fails depends not only on the science included in the petition submitted on March 9, but it also VERY MUCH depends on the public’s comments and support. The wake boat owners and industry opposition will be powerful and compelling to many who believe their misinformation. The more Letter of Support (LOS) signatures we can gather, the better the chances of petition approval. The same goes for the public meetings, the more supporters we have show up and speak at the ANR’s public meetings, the better the chances of success. All of these, the LOS, attendance and comments at the public meetings are crucially important.
