I never did get the photo of the butterflies all over our lilac bush. I got kind of busy and I think the lilac blooms are getting a little past their prime now and probably aren't nearly as attractive as they were. Instead, I noticed this morning the butterflies are concentrating on the chive blossoms and investigating a few iris blooms that are getting ready to open. However, in the few minutes I spent outside, there was only one butterfly, but it was extremely camera shy.

Today was flag day - did you know that? I put our flag out first thing this morning. The sky
looked a bit threatening, but as far as I know, it hasn't rained - yet. We are still on the cool side, but beginning tomorrow, there's supposed to be a real warming trend!

I got the following message today from Kent and Cherese Mason:

For all of our Joe’s Pond family, friends, and neighbors... Kent and I will be having live music on our deck next Saturday night June 20th from 7-10pm. Because of covid and safety rules, we are only able to have a small group of family at our home that night. However, we would love people to come by boat and float out front of our place to watch and listen from the water. Anchor down, boat tie up or whatever works! Hoping to see many boats! Come out and help give a big Joe’s Pond welcome to Brian Kerins from the band Flydown, who will be performing. He’s an amazing artist and plays a large variety, something for everyone and welcomes requests. Come enjoy a fun evening of entertainment! Hope to see you all floating out front!
Best,
Kent and Cherese

That seems like a really nice thing to do during this difficult time when there are no big events going on. It's really nice that, just like drive-in movies, boats can park on the water - distancing, of course - and listen to live music.

Also, don't forget that Sunday is Fathers' Day. We hope dads everywhere are healthy and can enjoy a special day with their family, either in person or whatever way they can and still be safe from the dreaded virus.

Some places are seeing a spike in Covidvirus cases, and I think that was more or less expected. People are inclined to relax about wearing masks, distancing and sanitizing as soon as the numbers begin to look better, and that is obviously a mistake. This won't be over any time soon - not until there is an effective immunization AND treatment. In the meantime, keep a good supply of hand sanitizer, soap, and face masks on hand - and stay out of crowds. Don't let your guard down. Face masks and distancing are going to be a fact of life for a long time to come.
