Some pandemic humor from Malcolm Paulsen via Andy and Joyce Rudin ---

Someone recently asked me about Vermont's guidelines (which are different than some other states - but designed to keep Vermonters and visitors here safe) during the current pandemic. I am glad to post the latest I could find about regulation, and thank that potential visitor for caring about us enough to as the question. We want to welcome visitors this year as we have in the past, but it will be decidedly different. No hand shakes or hugs - and we so appreciate when people self-quarantine for 14 days and then continue to self-distance and wear masks. We have heard about people in other communities not bothering with those precautions, and how Vermonters are feeling disrespected and some are beginning to react negatively when they see an out-of-state licence plate. (This happened in southern Vermont recently.) Here's the thing - we are doing better than most bordering states and an influx of people who are from or who have visited other states could mean a reversal that would prolong our recovery from this pandemic. People are just being protective of themselves and their families. So please self-quarantine and after the 14 days, plan to wear a mask and keep your distance from others. We will all feel safer and hopefully get back to whatever "normal" is sooner that way.

As of Monday, May 4, Gov. Phill Scott is allowing some businesses to open. To learn if and when plans may be changed and the latest news on the pandemic, go to his regular news conference on WCAX where he and his team will be answering questions and giving us new information. That's on Noontime News, or check his press releases.
