In case you are wondering what all the sirens and firetruck activity was this afternoon, there is an out-of-control brush fire on the upper side of Route 2 about across from Molly's Pond. I don't know how bad it is, but I do know that there is at least one house way up in what was a pasture at the top of that big field. Everything has been terribly dry, and it's not surprising a fire got going. Right now I'm hearing on the scanner that Danville is asking for coverage of their station by other stations while they work at this fire. Cabot and Walden are there, as well. There is a dry hydrant there so they can get water from a pond in the area - perhaps Molly's Pond, but also I think there is a man-made pond in the field above where the cement statue place is, which is near the fire location.
I have had requests for specific information regarding out-of-state visitors and the best information I can give you is to check this website: Vt. COVID-19 regulations.
This is a difficult time for everyone, but we hope people will be respectful and adhere to Gov. Scott's regulations. If you must come to Vermont, plan on quarantining for 14 days and then please wear a mask when you are out and about among others. I'm sure it won't be that much of an inconvenience - not much is open except for curbside service and there will be no fairs or large gatherings allowed this summer, so plan on staying "put" if you do come, keep your distance in respect for your neighbors, and enjoy the water, boating swimming or whatever - but use common sense, curbside shop and greet others outside your immediate family from a distance. Surely that's not too difficult and your neighbors will thank you for being thoughtful. Even though you may feel well you could still have the virus and carry it to someone else. Many of our population are older people who have other health issues that make us vulnerable, but we are also learning that even young children are susceptible to some form of this awful virus.
