I'm still here, but mostly absorbed in putting the finishing touches on chapters of the history book by inserting photos and other images. It's a big job because we have so many photos to choose from. We want to include as many as possible, and each one has to have a caption, so all three of us are concentrating on this final stage to get it ready for our editor's last read-through. It is exciting to think it's finally coming to a close.
We lost a member of our family on February 4. Hazie Sargent, step father to our daughters-in-law, Marie and Theresa, passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer. Hazie was one of the good guys. He had a great sense of humor, was always good natured, and will be missed by all of us. Family gatherings will not be the same without him. He leaves his wife, Jean of St. Johnsbury, three step daughters, Louise Monty and Theresa Dimick of St. Johnsbury and Marie Dimick of Cabot, three sisters and numerous friends. Hazie served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and spent most of his working life in the Ascutney, Vermont area until his and Jean's retirement when they moved to St. Johnsbury to be closer to family. He was a Master Electrician and the go-to guy for any and all electrical advice as his step-daughters and their husbands built and remodeled their homes. He was always generous with his expertise and valued advice. We will miss his opinions and his infectious chuckle. His passing leaves his family and friends with heavy hearts but many, many fond memories and some comfort knowing his suffering is over.
