We've had a busy day today. We went to St. Johnsbury this morning to do some errands, and this afternoon I finished wrapping Christmas gifts (for our family Christmas on Sunday). Tomorrow  will be another busy day getting set up for Sunday. There will be eleven of us, so I need to rearrange a few things to accommodate that many at the table.

I had a lovely note today from a woman who lives in Kentucky and reads this blog. She has relatives in the area and has spent time here. She said the blog helps her to reconnect with this area that she remembers so fondly. Turns out she has visited Peacham, Greenbanks Hollow, Cabot Plain, and has stayed at Joe's Pond. Small world!

We spotted some ice fishermen in front of Diane Rossi's when we came home around noon today. All three ponds seem to be solidly frozen over, even the narrows between the second and third ponds. However, I'm betting the ice there is very thin. I always fear someone unfamiliar with the pond may try to go through the narrows with their snow machine and get into trouble. The water isn't very deep there, so they might just get a good wetting - but when it's cold, it would still be very dangerous.

I learned today that Darius Leightcap, of Danville passed away. His daughter, Randee, is the graphic design artist who is working with us on the West Danville history book. I never met Randee's dad, but he sounds like a wonderful and interesting person. He was 94 years old.

I think I forgot to mention that George & Judy Anderson sold their cottage on Route 2 to Mark & Patricia Farr of Bradford, Vermont. I'm sure they will enjoy spending time there. We look forward to meeting them next spring.

Catching Up

As our lovely autumn days begin to turn a bit chill and dreary - the transition from October to November is like that  - I want to share so...
