I just had an ad come in my email - it was on Pinterest, for Christmas gifts. One that caught my eye was a this pair of socks. We watch Hallmark movies, even though they are all formula scripted: boy-meets-girl-instant-connection-interrupted kiss-old-flame-shows-up-heartbreak-happy ending, and the Christmas movies all have the same script but with the prerequisite snowball fight, skating (one of them doesn't know how), cookie-making and tree lighting ceremony added. They are predictable, silly, unrealistic and sometimes the acting is really bad, but the scenery is great (even though the snow scenes in "Vermont" look more like Colorado and often there are leaves on the maple trees in the Christmas scenes - just all sprayed with fake snow. The new movies often aren't quite as good as the earlier ones - or
maybe we're just plain getting tired of the same-old same old. And we've been known to abandon the really bad ones, but still we watch most, I guess to see the flaws in the scenery and try to figure out how they worked around them - or didn't. But mostly we watch because it is such a great antidote for the political news, dreadful shootings and stabbings, and violent shows that are available every evening. We do have several shows we watch - Young Sheldon, Bull, All Rise and Blue Bloods (yes, I'm a big Selleck fan!), and we tape "The Talk" to watch after the news in the eveing (those ladies don't hold back anything!) But still, for the time being, we're kinda hooked on Hallmark movies. Just like lots of other folks, I guess.

We have a dreary day today, with not much weather going on at all. The sun was out for a little while earlier this morning, but not very brightly, and now it's completely overcast. Looks like it could snow, but not much more than flurries expected, according to the forecast.
