JPA Meeting Minutes, 8-24-29; and Bylaws Changes

The minutes of the final meeting of the JPA season are now posted on the blog. Click HERE to access them. (I really like the new format Jamie Stewart used for his minutes.)

There was a cocktail party Saturday afternoon, and then the folks who play pickle ball had a Pickleball Potluck luncheon on Sunday.

The Pickleball Party was held at the Tom and Jane Segale camp near the courts. All four of the new courts were in use Sunday for the final round of games before the luncheon. Jamie Stewart reported that "the food and the company was lots of fun." Joe's Ponders really know how to wrap up a season!

Of course, there are still lots of people still here, and most will remain well into the fall unless they have to go home because youngsters are heading back to school.

Also, there have been minor changes made to the JPA bylaws. They are posted on the website - HERE.

We heard today from our youngest granddaughter, Tangeni, who is visiting her Namibian  relatives with her family right now. They are having a family dinner tonight and tomorrow will go to  Etosha National Park to see the animals, about 2.5 hrs. from Oshakati. (If you click on the link, scroll down about midway of the page to the elephant on the right, and then click for a video.) I think they are only staying there for the day and will return to Oshakati. However, they will leave Oshakati for Windhoek, a day's drive, the following day and from there will start their long journey home by air, going first to Johannesburg, then London and finally Boston. They will arrive here on Labor Day. I spoke briefly to Bill and they are all well and having a wonderful time. Tangeni will miss a few days of school, but she said that will be ok. Our other granddaughter, Jo-Anne, will take off for Texas as soon as she gets back here, heading to Texas for her junior year in college. Lots happening. She says she will be home for Thanksgiving.

We will be happy to have them back home from this trip.

A postscript to the work done yesterday ditching around our driveway - today they were back seeding and spreading straw on the newly exposed dirt. I should have been a little quicker and spread my lupin seeds before they put the protective straw cover on - but the seeds may still catch - they are pretty tenacious.  We'll be getting our first rain tomorrow to test the new arrangement. That will be interesting.
